| Icons Of The Ring Interview |
| Icons of the Ring brings
you an exclusive interview with one of the hottest females in
wrestling, TALIA! She gives us the scoop on her new tag team T
&A, her experience in WWE, the state of women's wrestling, and
much more! ICONS of the RING: Hey Talia, what's shakin? Talia: Usually my ass!! IOTR: Thanks for doing the interview. First let's start off with the basics. How did you get into the wrestling business? Talia: Well I come from an extremely athletic background. When i was 7, I played on a little league softball team for my hometown, and then played softball and cheerleading all through middle school, and in high school was on the softball, cheerleading, cross country and track teams. When I graduated, I still wanted to stay athletic and since I have always loved wrestling, found a local school in my hometown and joined. I was actually at a party one night, (this was before i got in the business) and I noticed a guy there who had a wrestling shirt on. I started talking to him, asking him questions about wrestling, and he told me he was an indy wrestler. I must've asked him 7,340 questions about wrestling that night and how I can get myself into it and he told me there was a school in our hometown and that I should come down, meet the trainer and possibly think about joining and so I did and now here I am today!! BTW, the indy wrestler who guided me in the right direction is Bull Dredd, so a big THANK YOU to him! IOTR: How did you wind up getting trained by ECW alumni Jason Knight? Talia: Jason was the trainer of the school that I had joined. He's a wonderful trainer, never babied me or took it easy on me and I am glad for that. He treated me as one of the boys in the ring. He helped me develop the "tough skin" that you need to have to be in this business. IOTR: How did you land a match wrestling Victoria on WWE Sunday Night Heat? What was it like to step foot into a WWE ring? I would've pissed myself! (eww sorry.) Talia: Oh believe me, my bladder was on E by the time I finally hit that ring! I was actually already in New Jersey visiting a friend, (Raw was in East Rutherford that week) it was on a Sunday, and Tommy Dreamer called and told me they needed a girl to work Victoria on heat the next night and asked me if I was interested and I was like F*..$ YEA!!! Thank god I had a wrestling show the night before and had my gear with me, or I wouldve had to come allll the way back to CT to get it!! Victoria was GREAT to work with. I have nothing but good things to say about her. Shes a really sweet, down to earth girl and I would love to work with her again one day. IOTR: You've worked with Matt Striker in 3PW a bunch of times, what do you think of Matt getting his WWE contract? Talia: I was really happy to hear when Matt got signed. I had a blast working together with him in 3PW either as "Lucha Talia" or "Miss Talia" while he was Macho Man Striker. He's very talented and really entertaining to watch. Good luck to him always. IOTR: You recently formed a tag-team with April Hunter called T & A, how did that come about? And when is T & A going to TNA!? Talia: April and I figured we needed a change and wanted to spice it up a lil bit, so we talked about forming the tag team and just went with it. Our gimmick is basically making fun of all the unnecessary "T&A" in womens wrestling that is basically shoved down our throats. We figured all anyone cares about in womens wrestling these days is "T&A" so there ya go. It would be cool for T&A to go to TNA, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. IOTR: We met recently at the Wrestle Fest 2005 convention, it was nice to speak in person. What were your thoughts on the convention? How did the Long Island fans treat you? I'm from Long Island, so I know how we can be. *(tell the truth, I won't be offended!) Talia: I actually didn't know what to expect, or what kind of turnout April and I would get but we were both extremely surprised when as many fans came over to our table as they did. The fans that day were great, bringing us gifts, cards, and we actually sold tons and tons of polaroids that day which was cool. We had a really good time there. It was nice to meet you as well. :) IOTR: What's the most bizarre thing that a fan has ever said to you? Talia: Where do I begin?? Well the latest was "Can I come to Connecticut, give you a full body massage and cook you dinner?" That sounds like a dream come true to me!! IOTR: Who are some of your inspirations in wrestling? Talia: Going waaay back was Macho Man Randy Savage cause when I first started watching wrestling, he's the one that stuck out the most to me with his flashy ring attire, the way he would talk, and of course, for having Miss Elizabeth on his side. I started watching him more and more and loved his style and ability. Currently, I admire Trish Stratus and Victoria. They both work their asses off and they are just such great workers. Trish has come a long way starting out as a valet, knowing nothing about wrestling, and just training really hard all the time to become what she is today. I also love watching Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Is there really any explanation needed as to why? IOTR: You accompanied Matt Hardy to the ring when he teamed with Rhino against the former Dudley Boyz (Team 3-D) at Wrestle Reunion this year. What was that match like for you? Talia: It was amazing to me to be a part of that match as every guy in that match are guys I used to watch at hime on TV, and to actually be working with them side by side was an honor. They put on a hell of a match that night and I was proud to be in Matt Hardy's corner. They're all really cool guys. IOTR: By the way sorry to hear about your beloved NY Yankees. Maybe next year my friend! Talia: Ehhh...Its all good tho...They're still and will always be number 1. IOTR: What do you consider a "good" wrestling match? Talia: Ring psychology and proper training. If the match doesnt make sense, and you go out there and do 1001 high spots for no reason and there's no psychology behind the match, then why even be in the ring? IOTR: Can I come to Connecticut and have a kiss? Or will you threaten my life like when I asked April the same question? Talia: Of course!!! I'll be sure to bend over so you can plant one! IOTR: I'm down for that! haha! Thanks Talia you rock! See you soon! |
